Start of School

Here is a copy of the letter I gave to parents, in case you can't find yours. Just a reminder that school starts tomorrow! We will have show and tell, so if it is your child's day they can bring something that tells about themselves, or something with the number one. So pretty much anything would work this week!

Dear Parents,
I am excited to begin the new school year. This year we will focus on getting ready for Kindergarten by learning letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and various themes that will help make learning fun! Here is some general information for you to know about the upcoming year.

Payment Tuition will be due the first school day of each month. Each month is
$85.00, except December. Because some months have seven days, and some have nine, it averages out. For September the total is $70.00 because of the $15.00 previously paid. December’s tution will be prorated to $60.00 because of days off in December.

Illness Just as any other school or church, I ask that if your child is ill, or has been ill within the past 24 hours, they stay home from school. Particulary, if they have a fever/cough. I am hoping we can minimize the spread of germs by applying hand sanatizer as children arrive at school and again before snacks.

Calendar I have printed off a calendar of the first four months noting holidays and the things we will be learning about each week. I also have a blog that I will update at least once a month to let you know what we will be focusing on during the month. I will also send emails with other important information such as field trips. The blog address is jdbrightbeginningspreschool.blogspot.com.

Drop Off/ Pick UP When you drop off or pick up your child, please come right in instead of waiting for me to open the door. This way we won’t have to disrupt the other children. After the first 10 minutes we will likely be upstairs. Please be sure to pick your child up at 11:30.

Field Trips I am planning at least two field trips, one in the fall to a pumpkin patch and one in the spring to the fire station. When the time is a little closer, I will let parents know the exact dates. Parents are welcome to come, and I will need volunteers to help make them possible!

Show and Tell For Show and Tell I ask that you help your child choose something that has to do with the letter, theme, or math that we are learning about that week. This will help the children apply what we are learning to real life. For example, if we are learning about the letter D they could bring a toy dinosour; for transportation they could bring a toy vehicle; for the number three, they could bring three of one item. Your child will be assigned either a Tuesday or Thursday for Show and Tell. Please have them bring something only on the day they are assigned. When they arrive I will place the object somewhere safe untill Show and Tell time. Tuesdays: Thomas, Caden, Maya, Camber Thursdays: Brandon, Natalie, Braxton, Sarah, Norah

Schedule Our schedule will probably differ a little each day, depending on what we are doing, but this is the general schedule with the order of activites;
9:00-9:10 Structured Play
9:10-9:25 Circle Learning Time
9:25 -10:10Centers 10:10-10:25 Free Play
10:25-10:40 Snack Time
10:40-10:50 Calendar Time
10:50-11:10 Art
11:10-11:30 Music, Storytime, Show and Tell

I look forward to working with each of your children and hope this year will be a very bright beginning of his or her future!
